Happy Pride Month! I just finished my June book display at the IPCC Library and am excited to share it here along with a resource list I made for LGBTQ/Two-Spirit youth and the allies in their lives. The current display features separate sides for children and teens, and all books feature Native LGBTQ characters, topics, and/or Native LGBTQ authors.

Native Children’s Books for Pride Month
Circle of Love by Monique Gray Smith
47,000 Beads by Koja Adeyoha and Angel Adeyoha
Ho’onani Hula Warrior by Heather Gale
Sharice’s Big Voice by Sharice Davids with Nancy K. Mays
Kapaemahu by Dean Hamer
Native Teen Books for Pride Month
Little Moons by Jen Storm
Surviving the City Vol. 1 by Tasha Spillett
Surviving the City Vol. 2: From the Roots Up by Tasha Spillett
Notable Native People: 50 Indigenous Leaders, Dreamers, and Changemakers from Past and Present by Adrienne Keene (selected pages)
The Ribbon Skirt by Cameron Mukwa
Elatsoe by Darcie Little Badger
A Snake Falls to Earth by Darcie Little Badger

In addition to the typical featured books, I curated a list of articles, websites, and other resources that can be accessed via QR codes placed around the display (see image below). Within the online document, there are links to lists of Native LGBTQ or Two-Spirit trailblazers to supplement entries I bookmarked in Adrienne Keene’s Notable Native People. I also included resources for both Indigenous LGBTQ youth and adult allies who want to learn more. My favorite section to compile was the list of LGBTQ New Mexico and Albuquerque-based organizations for youth!
